Dr. Steven Burakoff

Dean of Cancer Innovation and Chief of Pediatric Oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine
Dr. Burakoff is the former Director of the Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He served as a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School under Professor Benacerraf, a Nobel Laureate for his work in immunology and went on to become a Professor at Harvard Medical School. At NYU he served as Director of the Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine and the NYU Cancer Institute. He chaired Pediatric Oncology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute as well as the Advisory Committee on Immunotherapy of the American Cancer Society. An American Association of Immunologists Lifetime Achievement Award winner, he served on the Board of Directors of Genzyme when it was acquired by Sanofi-Aventis in for over $20 billion.
